Senior Health & Safety Consultant
About the Role
An established environmental and planning consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Consultant to join its growing team in Galway on a hybrid basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional to take a leadership role in delivering construction safety, occupational health and safety, and advisory services across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and construction projects.
The successful candidate will also contribute to the continued development of the Health & Safety team, strengthen client relationships and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead construction Health & Safety consultancy services, including acting as Project Supervisor for the Design Process (PSDP).
- Deliver Occupational Health & Safety consultancy and advisory services.
- Conduct Health & Safety audits, inspections and reviews.
- Investigate accidents and incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Review contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Support the development and implementation of Health & Safety training programmes.
- Promote a strong safety culture across projects and teams.
- Lead the growth and development of Health & Safety services in Galway.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to business development and identify opportunities for service growth.
About You
- Third-level qualification in Safety and Health or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in a Health & Safety role.
- Proven experience delivering Health & Safety consultancy services.
- Experience fulfilling the PSDP role.
- Strong knowledge of construction Health & Safety requirements and legislation.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections and accident/incident investigations.
- Experience reviewing contractor risk assessments and method statements.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- PSDP training.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
- QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor qualification.
- SOLAS-accredited Safe Pass Trainer qualification.
- Business development experience.
- Experience working on renewable energy projects.
