About the Role
A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Project Manager – Civil & Environmental Engineering to join its growing Circular Economy team.
This senior opportunity is suited to a Chartered Engineer with 15+ years’ postgraduate experience in civil engineering, environmental engineering, design and project management.
You will lead multidisciplinary teams and manage the successful delivery of projects across waste management infrastructure, public realm, urban development and renewable energy. The role offers significant responsibility, client engagement and a clear pathway towards Associate and Director-level positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead civil and environmental design teams to deliver projects on time, within budget and to high-quality standards.
- Manage project programmes, resources, budgets and technical deliverables.
- Supervise, mentor and support senior and junior engineering professionals.
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications and tender documentation.
- Plan and coordinate design activities with Project Directors and technical leads.
- Manage client relationships and maintain clear project communication.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems, Health & Safety requirements and relevant legislation.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues and priorities.
- Attend site visits, client meetings and stakeholder engagements.
- Support business development and contribute to project proposals where required.
- Participate in Oral Hearings where appropriate.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status.
- Minimum 15 years’ postgraduate experience in design and project management.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong client, stakeholder and subconsultant management skills.
- Experience developing and managing project budgets.
- Excellent communication, organisational and analytical abilities.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to project delivery.
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel.
