Clerk of Works – Greenway Infrastructure

About the Role
A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to support the delivery of a major greenway infrastructure project in County Wexford.
This is an excellent opportunity for a construction or civil engineering professional to gain further experience across a varied project involving civil works, drainage, bridges, historic structures and associated infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with contractors, designers, engineers and technical specialists to ensure construction is delivered to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily site inspections and maintain accurate site diaries.
- Supervise construction works and monitor progress on site.
- Review contractor material submissions and method statements.
- Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans.
- Raise and monitor non-compliance reports.
- Witness key stages of construction and associated testing.
- Ensure works comply with contract requirements, specifications and approved designs.
- Identify and report potential design issues to the design team.
- Liaise with designers, engineers, contractors and technical specialists.
- Attend and contribute to site meetings.
- Represent the design team at site meetings where required.
- Maintain clear records of construction activities and project issues.
Requirements
- National Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Studies or a related discipline.
- Approximately 5 years’ postgraduate experience on road, greenway or active travel infrastructure projects.
- Experience as a Design Site Representative Inspector or Employer’s Representative Inspector.
- Proven experience supervising bridge construction works.
- Experience with historic steel structures would be advantageous.
- Previous experience within a consulting engineering environment is desirable.
- Strong communication, organisational and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage complex tasks involving multiple stakeholders.
- Analytical and practical approach to problem-solving.
- Flexible, proactive and able to work independently.
- Strong team-working skills.
- Full driving licence.
