About the Role
A leading multidisciplinary environmental and engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Project Hydrogeologist to join its growing Environment & Planning team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hydrogeologist with 4–10 years’ experience to develop their technical expertise while working on projects across infrastructure, renewable energy, transport, water and environmental sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hydrogeological and environmental projects from inception through to completion.
- Undertake fieldwork, site investigations, groundwater monitoring and environmental surveys.
- Prepare and review technical reports, groundwater assessments and environmental documentation.
- Coordinate specialist surveys, site investigations and monitoring programmes.
- Liaise with clients, landowners, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to EIARs, PECRs, Appropriate Assessment Screenings and NISs.
- Review maps, GIS outputs and technical reports prepared by junior team members.
- Support peer reviews and liaise with legal, regulatory and project teams.
- Attend stakeholder meetings, public consultations and community engagement events.
- Assist with tenders, proposals and business development activities.
- Work closely with Project Managers and senior technical specialists.
- Maintain CPD records and actively pursue professional development.
Requirements
- Level 8 Honours Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences or a related discipline.
- Approximately 4–10 years’ relevant experience in hydrogeology or environmental consultancy.
- PGeo, ACIEEM or equivalent professional accreditation is desirable.
- Experience in hydrogeological investigations and environmental assessments.
- Knowledge of borehole specification, groundwater monitoring and trial pit logging.
- Strong fieldwork and surveying capabilities.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, MapInfo or equivalent GIS platforms.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel.
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork.
Desirable
Experience with AquiferTest, MODFLOW, LandSim, P20 or similar hydrogeological software would be advantageous.
