Senior Project Planner

About the Role
A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to join its growing planning team. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, energy, environmental, residential, commercial and public sector projects throughout Ireland.
You will lead planning workstreams on multidisciplinary projects, provide expert advice to clients and support the development of junior planning professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning workstreams across projects of varying scale and complexity.
- Provide planning advice to clients, engineers and project teams.
- Prepare, coordinate and review planning applications and supporting documentation.
- Manage planning programmes, deliverables and project budgets.
- Review planning reports, drawings and technical documentation.
- Undertake quality assurance reviews before submissions.
- Liaise with planning authorities, An Bord Pleanála, statutory consultees and stakeholders.
- Attend pre-planning consultations, public consultations and stakeholder meetings.
- Support planning appeals, oral hearings and project consultations.
- Prepare and review planning sections of EIARs, PECRs and related documentation.
- Support tenders, fee proposals and business development.
- Mentor Graduate Planners and junior team members.
Requirements
- Level 8 Honours Degree in Planning or a related discipline.
- Typically 3–7 years’ professional planning experience, or equivalent expertise.
- Corporate Membership of the IPI and/or RTPI, or progression towards Chartered Planner status.
- Strong knowledge of Irish planning legislation, policy and development management.
- Experience preparing and managing planning applications.
- Excellent project management, organisational and report-writing skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to identify planning risks and develop practical solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Desirable
Experience in infrastructure, renewable energy, utilities or environmental projects, together with knowledge of EIA processes and GIS software such as ArcGIS or MapInfo, would be advantageous.
