Design / Project Structural Engineer

About the Role
A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking motivated Structural Engineers at Design Engineer and Project Engineer level to join its growing structural engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with 2–8 years’ experience to develop their technical expertise while working on challenging projects across a variety of sectors. Depending on experience, you will contribute to project delivery from concept through construction, with opportunities to take responsibility for project tasks and mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Design structural elements in steel, concrete, timber and masonry in accordance with Eurocodes.
- Prepare and review structural calculations using hand calculations and specialist software.
- Work on foundations, transfer structures, beams, slabs and other specialist structures.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications and project documentation.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Support tendering, site investigations and project delivery.
- Carry out site inspections and prepare BCAR documentation.
- Complete Designer Risk Assessments and maintain Health & Safety compliance.
- Manage project tasks in line with programme and budget.
- Communicate with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
- Mentor graduates and technicians where appropriate.
Requirements
- Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
- 2–8 years’ relevant structural engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis and design principles.
- Experience designing to Eurocodes across multiple construction materials.
- Strong communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Good commercial awareness and Microsoft Office skills.
For Project Engineer level, Chartered status or progress towards Engineers Ireland Chartership, along with experience coordinating teams and engaging with clients, is advantageous.
Desirable Software
Experience with Robot, Tekla Structural Designer, CADS A3D, Tedds, AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Civil 3D, Navisworks or Common Data Environments would be beneficial.
