Resident Engineer

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to support an Active Travel scheme in County Meath, commencing July/August. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Civil Engineer with experience in roads and transport infrastructure to take a key role in the successful delivery of a major construction project.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible, with the ability to take responsibility and work effectively both independently and as part of a wider project team.
Key Responsibilities
The role will involve:
Site-based supervision of construction activities.
Contract administration and monitoring.
Stakeholder and client liaison.
Regular reporting and progress monitoring.
Inspection of construction works to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Working closely with the Senior Resident Engineer.
Monitoring contractor performance, progress and quality.
Maintaining accurate project records and documentation.
Supporting the administration of Public Works Contracts, including valuations and claims.
Requirements
Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership is desirable.
Minimum 4 years’ relevant civil engineering experience, including at least 2 years’ construction-phase experience supervising and administering Public Works Contracts.
Experience supervising roadworks, including pavement, drainage, structures, ducting, signage and lighting.
Experience administering Public Works Contracts, including valuations and claims.
Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar software and Microsoft Office.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good record-keeping and reporting abilities.
Knowledge of current health and safety regulations and best practices.
Full driving licence and valid Safe Pass.
