Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior HV Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative electrical design solutions for major building, energy and infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK and internationally.

You will work with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders, including major utilities and large energy users, within a rapidly evolving energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and contribute to the design and owners engineering of high-voltage substations and grid development projects.
Review HV plant layouts, earthing, interlocking, busbar calculations and technical specifications.
Assess detailed designs against functional and outline design specifications.
Prepare technical specification packages, schematics, single-line diagrams and substation layouts.
Provide technical expertise on HV cables, substations and overhead line systems.
Develop equipment specifications for HV plant and associated equipment.
Provide engineering input throughout project lifecycles, from feasibility and front-end engineering through detailed design, construction monitoring and commissioning.
Support innovative projects involving energy storage, HVDC, smart grids and waste-to-energy technologies.
Assist with tendering activities and technical proposals.

About You

Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership is desirable.
Proven experience in HV substation design, ideally within the 132kV–400kV range.
Experience working with Irish and UK transmission and distribution standards and processes.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to lead technical workstreams and support strategic project delivery.
Experience in the design, delivery or supervision of HV substation solutions from 110kV to 400kV.Desirable Experience

Experience with AIS/GIS substations, overhead lines, HV cable systems, construction, testing and commissioning, earthing software, ETAP, control and protection systems, or a relevant Master’s degree would be advantageous.
