Principal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultant
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultant to join an established Environment Team in Cork. This is a senior leadership opportunity to work on some of Ireland’s most significant infrastructure and development projects.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams and specialist consultants in delivering high-quality Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), influencing projects from early strategy through planning and consent. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, regulators and stakeholders, providing technical expertise, commercial awareness and strategic guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of complex and high-profile EIARs and environmental assessment programmes.
Manage multidisciplinary teams, including planners, engineers, technical specialists and external consultants.
Organise and deliver large-scale EIARs and non-statutory environmental reports.
Mentor, support and develop environmental professionals and early-career consultants.
Prepare Marine Area Consents for estuarine and marine projects.
Manage technical delivery, project finances, client relationships and programmes.
Build strong relationships with clients, regulators, stakeholders and delivery partners.
Lead project governance, quality assurance and commercial performance.
Contribute to successful proposals, tenders and strategic business opportunities across infrastructure, transport, energy and water.
Review and approve EIARs, ensuring compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation and industry best practice.
Support the continued growth and development of the Environmental Team.

About You

Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
A relevant Master’s degree is desirable but not essential.
Significant recent experience preparing and coordinating EIARs and environmental reports for major infrastructure projects.
Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
Experience delivering EIARs across sectors such as roads, rail, energy and water.
Strong knowledge of Irish and EU planning and environmental legislation.
Excellent technical report-writing and quality assurance skills.
Proven project management and bid development experience.
Experience managing, mentoring and developing environmental consultants.
