Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join a growing technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a flood risk and hydrology professional looking to take greater ownership of projects, provide specialist technical expertise and work directly with clients across a diverse portfolio of development, infrastructure and environmental projects.

You will collaborate with environmental, planning and engineering specialists, providing flood risk and hydrological input from early-stage feasibility through planning, assessment and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and manage Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) for development and infrastructure projects.
Undertake hydrological assessments and interpret catchment and flood risk data.
Support hydraulic and flood modelling activities where required.
Assess fluvial, pluvial, coastal and groundwater flood risk.
Provide technical input to EIARs, planning applications and environmental assessments.
Advise clients and multidisciplinary teams on flood risk constraints and mitigation measures.
Liaise with clients, planning authorities and relevant statutory bodies.
Review modelling outputs, technical information and third-party reports.
Manage project budgets, programmes, deadlines and technical deliverables.
Support and mentor junior team members.
Contribute to proposals, client relationships and development of flood risk services.

About You

Approximately 7–10 years’ relevant experience in flood risk, hydrology, drainage, water/environmental engineering or a related discipline.
Strong practical experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments.
Good knowledge of Irish flood risk and planning requirements.
Experience using OPW flood data and guidance and working with planning authorities.
Sound understanding of hydrological and hydraulic assessment methods.
Experience with flood modelling or confidently interpreting modelling outputs.
Strong technical report-writing and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage projects and engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Relevant degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.

Consultancy experience within environmental, engineering or planning environments is particularly desirable.
